
12 Regions To Compete For First class Qualification in Hanif Mohammad Trophy starting From 29 August
Lahore, 8 August 2025 — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the 2025-26 domestic cricket season will kick off with the Hanif Mohammad Trophy (HMT) on Friday, 29 August. The four-day, non-first-class event will feature 12 regional sides vying for the two available spots in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The competition will conclude on Thursday, 25 September.
Originally slated to start on 15 August, the tournament was pushed back to ensure the availability of Pakistan Shaheens’ players for their respective regions.
Group A fixtures will be staged in Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rahim Yar Khan, with the pool consisting of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Karachi Whites, Lahore Blues, and Quetta.
Group B matches will be hosted in Karachi, featuring Dera Murad Jamali, FATA, Karachi Blues, Larkana, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
The HMT will span five rounds over 28 days, with each round hosting six matches. Every team will play five games, and the group leaders will progress to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which will commence immediately after the HMT.
Squads will be formed from last season’s standout players and the top performers of the Regional Inter-District three-day tournament held in June and July this year.
