Hope, Seales Guide West Indies to Landmark ODI Series Win Against Pakistan

TAROUBA: An unbeaten century from Roston Chase and a career-best six-wicket haul by Jayden Seales powered West Indies to a commanding 202-run win over Pakistan in the third ODI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Tuesday.

The emphatic result sealed the three-match series 2-1 for the hosts, marking their first ODI series triumph over Pakistan since 1991.

Set a challenging 295-run target, Pakistan’s batting collapsed to a mere 92 all out in 29.2 overs, suffering a heavy defeat. Salman Ali Agha was the top scorer with a patient 30, while Mohammad Nawaz remained unbeaten on 23. No other batter reached double figures against a relentless West Indies attack.

Seales was the star with the ball, claiming 6 for 18 in 7.2 overs. Gudakesh Motie chipped in with two wickets, while Chase also took one.

Earlier, after being sent in to bat, West Indies posted 294/6 in their 50 overs. Their innings began shakily with Brandon King falling in the third over for just 10 runs on the board. Evin Lewis (37) and Keacy Carty (17) then added a stabilising 47-run stand before both were removed by Abrar Ahmed in quick succession.

Captain Shai Hope took charge, first adding 45 runs with Sherfane Rutherford (15) for the fourth wicket, and then forging a crucial 64-run stand with Chase, who scored a brisk 36 off 29 balls.

At 184/6 in the 42nd over, Pakistan looked to have the upper hand, but Hope and Justin Greaves launched a late assault, adding an unbeaten 110 runs for the seventh wicket. Hope smashed 120 not out off 94 balls with 10 fours and five sixes, while Greaves contributed a quickfire 43 off 24.

For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah took two wickets apiece, while Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz claimed one each.
