PCB Confirms PSL 11 Dates as League Set for Major Expansion
NEW YORK: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the landmark 11th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will take place from March 26 to May 3 next year.
The announcement was made during a panel session at the PSL Roadshow in New York, which featured current national players Shan Masood, Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Saud Shakeel, Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed, along with former greats Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja.
Addressing the gathering, Naqvi said that several investors had been seeking clarity on the league’s schedule. He confirmed that, with God’s blessings, PSL 11 will begin on March 26, with the final planned for May 3.
Naqvi also revealed an update regarding the auction of the two new PSL franchises, stating that it will now be held on January 8. The auction was initially scheduled for January 6 but was pushed back by a day after the PCB extended the deadline for bid submissions.
Earlier, the closing date for franchise bids was December 15, but due to strong international interest, the PCB extended it by a week until December 22, 2025. Highlighting the growing global appeal of the league, Naqvi noted that potential investors from Europe, the United States, the Middle East and other regions have shown keen interest in owning PSL teams.
The latest development follows a highly successful roadshow at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where the PSL attracted significant attention from investors eager to become part of the league’s expansion. Building on that momentum, the PCB organized another roadshow in New York to further engage international stakeholders ahead of the auction.
It is worth noting that the PSL began in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six franchises in 2018. The upcoming season will mark the league’s biggest transformation in seven years, as the addition of two new teams will take the total number of franchises to eight.
