Sri Lanka Announced Squad For T20i Series Against Pakistan

Sri Lanka have unveiled their squad for the forthcoming three-match T20 International series against Pakistan, set to begin on Wednesday in Dambulla, with the return of Test skipper Dhananjaya de Silva standing out as the major highlight.

De Silva, who last featured in a T20I in June 2024 against the Netherlands, has been recalled as Sri Lanka step up their build-up to next month’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which they will co-host alongside India.

The 18-player squad will be captained by Dasun Shanaka. The series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will be played on January 7, 9, and 11, with all three matches taking place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

Serving as an important tune-up ahead of the T20 World Cup scheduled from February 7 to March 8, the series offers both sides a chance to fine-tune combinations. In T20I history, the two teams have faced each other 27 times, with Pakistan holding a narrow edge, having won 16 matches compared to Sri Lanka’s 11 victories.

Sri Lanka T20I Squad:
Dasun Shanaka (captain), Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushan Hemantha, Traveen Mathew, Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, and Eshan Malinga.
