HBL PSL 11 Introduces Player Auction Model, Higher Salary Cap, and Major Structural Reforms
The HBL Pakistan Super League has unveiled a set of major reforms ahead of its 11th season, signalling a new phase in the League’s evolution focused on competitiveness, financial growth, and modernisation.
For the first time since its inception, HBL PSL will move away from the traditional Player Draft and adopt a Player Auction system for Season 11. This landmark transition is designed to promote greater parity among teams, ensure a more open and transparent player selection process, and allow players increased opportunities to maximise their market value.
As part of the updated player recruitment framework:
• Franchises will be permitted to retain up to four players, with only one retention allowed in each player category. In previous editions, teams could retain up to eight players, along with provisions for a Mentor, a Brand Ambassador, and a Right to Match option to secure an additional player.
• The concepts of Mentors, Brand Ambassadors, and Right to Match have been discontinued for HBL PSL 11.
• Any newly introduced franchise will have the option to pre-select and retain four players from the available player pool prior to the auction.
• Teams will also be allowed one direct overseas signing, provided the player did not participate in HBL PSL Season 10, giving franchises the chance to add new international talent to their line-ups.

In another significant development, the total player salary cap has been raised to USD 1.6 million per team. This increase highlights the League’s commitment to fairly rewarding player performance while continuing to attract top-tier domestic and global cricketers.
These forward-looking changes reflect the HBL PSL’s long-term vision to strengthen its commercial appeal, elevate on-field competition, and deepen fan engagement across the country.
HBL PSL 11 is scheduled to begin on 26 March 2026. Faisalabad has been confirmed as an additional host city, marking its return as a venue and further broadening the League’s presence nationwide.
Further announcements regarding the auction mechanism, timelines, and operational details will be released at a later stage.
