Schedule announced for T20I tri-series featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Sunday confirmed that Afghanistan will feature in a Tri-Nation T20I series alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be staged in Lahore and Rawalpindi from November 17 to 29.

Organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the event is seen as crucial build-up for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup.

As per the itinerary, the three participating sides will play each other twice during the six-match round-robin stage, with the top two advancing to the final on November 29 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, bringing the tournament tally to seven games.

The competition will get underway on November 17 in Rawalpindi, where Pakistan will lock horns with Afghanistan. Afghanistan will then take on Sri Lanka at the same venue on November 19.

The latter half of the event shifts to Lahore, where Afghanistan are scheduled to face Pakistan on November 23 before concluding their group matches against Sri Lanka on November 25.

ACB chief executive Naseeb Khan welcomed the development, noting that the series provides an excellent opportunity for Afghanistan to sharpen their skills against quality opponents.
“This is a positive step as our national team continues to play consistently against top international sides. These fixtures will be valuable preparation for all three nations ahead of the T20 World Cup. I am confident Afghanistan will deliver good performances, and I’m sure the fans will enjoy the excitement of this series,” he remarked.

At present, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the UAE are contesting another triangular series in the UAE as part of their Asia Cup preparations.
