Trophy unveiled for Pakistan-Afghanistan-UAE T20I tri-series in Sharjah

SHARJAH: The trophy for the upcoming T20I tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was revealed on Thursday at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the three team captains: Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, and UAE’s Muhammad Waseem.

The tournament, scheduled from August 29 to September 7, will serve as an important lead-up to the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup, which kicks off in the UAE on September 9 and runs until September 28.

Originally, Pakistan was set to host Afghanistan in a bilateral series this month. However, the PCB suggested transforming the series into a triangular contest and moving it to the UAE so that all participating teams could better acclimatize to the conditions ahead of the Asia Cup.

The series will get underway on Friday, August 29, when Pakistan face Afghanistan in the opening fixture under the lights at 7:00 pm local time. Each team will play two matches against the other sides, with the top two after the group stage advancing to the final on September 7.
