Mike Hesson Appointed Pakistan’s White Ball Head Coach
LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has formally confirmed the appointment of former New Zealand cricketer and seasoned coach Mike Hesson as the new head coach for Pakistan’s white-ball teams.
Hesson will assume his duties starting May 26.
Naqvi made the announcement via his official account on social media platform ‘X’, saying:
“I’m delighted to confirm the appointment of Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach for the Pakistan men’s team.
“Mike brings extensive international coaching experience and a strong history of building competitive teams. We’re confident his leadership will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our white-ball cricket. Welcome aboard, Mike!”
This announcement comes in the lead-up to Pakistan’s upcoming five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled for later this month.
However, with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 now concluding on May 25, the originally planned T20I opener on the same day in Faisalabad is expected to be postponed. Updated fixtures for the series will be announced soon.
Hesson boasts an impressive coaching résumé. He led the New Zealand national team from 2012 to 2018, taking over from John Wright, and guided the side to numerous achievements on the international stage. He has also held coaching roles in the Indian Premier League (IPL), showcasing his ability to succeed in high-stakes, competitive environments.
