PCB Introduces Central Contracts for Pakistan U19 Cricketers for the First Time

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to introduce central contracts for Pakistan’s Under-19 cricketers for the first time, rewarding promising youngsters for their performances and providing them with greater encouragement at the early stage of their careers.

The development came during PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s meeting with the Pakistan U19 squad following their successful tour of England, where the young side secured a 3-1 victory in the four-match one-day series.

Naqvi met the players individually during the interaction, appreciated their performances and urged them to maintain their hard work as they continue their journey in professional cricket.

Pakistan U19 head coach Shahid Anwar welcomed the PCB’s decision, saying the introduction of contracts at junior level would give young cricketers additional motivation.

“Recognition for good performances gives young players confidence and encourages them to work even harder. The chairman’s support is also a big encouragement for the players and coaching staff,” Shahid said.

Captain Farhan Yousuf also highlighted the impact of the development camps organised in Multan over the last two years. According to him, the camps played an important role in the players’ development and contributed to the team’s recent performances.

Farhan said the opportunity to meet the PCB chairman was encouraging for the squad, while the introduction of Under-19 central contracts had brought considerable happiness among the players.

Young batter Aliyan Salman said the contracts would provide the players with greater confidence and morale, allowing them to concentrate more closely on improving their cricket.

Jahangir Bilal pointed out another important benefit of the initiative, saying financial support through the contracts would also help young cricketers contribute towards their families.

Rizwanullah also expressed his gratitude to Mohsin Naqvi and the PCB, describing the rewards and central contracts as a major source of motivation for the Under-19 players.
