Pakistan Women Secure Bronze in Asian Games After 31-Run Victory Over Bangladesh

NISSHIN: Pakistan women secured the bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park on Tuesday.

Pakistan, after being asked to bat first, managed 145-8 from their 20 overs as Bangladesh’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the innings.

Fatima Sana led Pakistan’s scoring with a composed unbeaten 45 from 30 balls, striking three fours and three sixes. Gull Feroza provided a brisk start with 31 off 23 deliveries, including six boundaries.

Aliya Riaz added an important 25 off 22 balls, hitting a four and two sixes, while Shawaal Zulfiqar made 17 from 27 deliveries. Ayesha Zafar scored nine, Saira Jabeen made five and Tuba Hassan contributed four not out from two balls.

Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter and Nahida Akter picked up two wickets apiece for Bangladesh, with Sanjida Akter Meghla taking one.

Bangladesh’s chase never gathered enough momentum as Pakistan’s bowlers successfully defended the total, restricting the Tigresses to 114-7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Shamim Akhter fought until the end with an unbeaten 46 off 45 balls, hitting four fours, while Nigar Sultana scored 25 from 30 deliveries with three boundaries. Dilara Akter gave Bangladesh a quick start with 12 off eight balls.

Nahida Akter finished unbeaten on 10, while Shorna Akter scored six, Juairiya Ferdous and Rabeya Khan made four each, and Ritu Moni and Sobhana Mostary contributed three and two respectively.

Umm-e-Hani was the standout bowler for Pakistan, returning impressive figures of 3-10 from her four overs. Tasmia Rubab, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Ayesha Zafar claimed one wicket each.

The victory earned Pakistan a place on the Asian Games podium as they finished the women’s cricket competition with a bronze medal.
