Hales & Wood Helps England To Defeat Pakistan in First T20i

In the first T20 match of the series, the visiting team England defeated Pakistan by six wickets.

England opener Phil Salt scored 10 runs, Dawid Malan scored 20 runs and Ben Duckett returned to the pavilion with 21 runs.  Opener Alex Hales was out for 53 runs while Harry Brooke was not out for 42 runs and captain Moeen Ali was not out for 7 runs.

On behalf of Pakistan, Usman Qadir dismissed two players.
A total of 7 matches will be played between the two teams, the second match of which will be played on Thursday, September 22 in Karachi.  The last three T20 matches of the series will be played in Lahore.

Pakistan batting

Pakistan scored 158 runs in the allotted overs at the loss of fellow players.  England debutant fast bowler Luke Wood took three wickets.

When the national team started batting, captain Babar Azam scored 31 runs and was bowled by Adil Rashid while Haider Ali was caught out by Sam Curran after scoring 11 runs.  Wicket keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan played the best game by scoring 68 runs and was stopped by the ball of Moeen Ali.  Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan also completed the fastest 2000 runs in T20Is.

Left-handed batsman Shan Masood, who made his T20 debut, returned to the pavilion after scoring 7 runs off the ball of Adil Rashid.  Muhammad Nawaz for only 4 runs, Iftikhar Ahmed 28 runs and Naseem Shah returned to the pavilion for zero.

Pakistan’s batsman Shaan Masood while England’s fast bowler Luke Wood made his debut in T20 cricket.  Before the start of the game, the players observed a minute’s silence in memory of the flood victims in Pakistan and Queen Elizabeth II.
