Pakistan Complete Dominant T20I Series Whitewash Over Zimbabwe Women with 133-Run Victory
KARACHI: Skipper Fatima Sana and Saira Jabeen struck impressive half-centuries before Sadia Iqbal led the bowling charge as Pakistan outclassed Zimbabwe by 133 runs in the third T20I at the National Bank Stadium on Friday.
Chasing a massive 224-run target, Zimbabwe were bundled out for just 90 in 17.1 overs, completing a clean sweep for Pakistan after defeats in the opening two matches as well.
Zimbabwe’s only notable resistance came from opener Kelis Ndhlovu, who played an aggressive innings of 32 from 13 balls, smashing six boundaries and a six. Adel Zimunu added 18, while Michelle Mavunga contributed 13, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to cope with Pakistan’s disciplined attack.
Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal starred with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 20 runs in her three overs. Nashra Sandhu provided excellent support with figures of 2/21 in four overs, while Tuba Hassan, Rameen Shamim and Fatima Sana chipped in with one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan posted an imposing 223/4 after opting to bat first.
Openers Muneeba Ali and Ayesha Zafar laid a solid foundation with a brisk 58-run stand during the powerplay. Muneeba scored 22 off 17 deliveries with three fours before Lindokuhle Mabhero broke the partnership in the seventh over.
Mabhero struck again shortly after, removing Ayesha Zafar lbw following her attacking 45-run knock off 28 balls that included nine boundaries.
Pakistan then slipped to 93/3 in the 11th over when Natalia Pervaiz was dismissed by Beloved Biza.
Saira Jabeen and Iram Javed steadied the innings with a valuable 49-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Iram departed for 29 in the 17th over.
The innings gained further momentum through an explosive unbeaten 71-run partnership between Saira and captain Fatima Sana. Fatima produced a stunning cameo of 62 from only 19 balls, hammering 10 fours and two sixes, while Saira remained unbeaten on 50 off 32 deliveries with eight fours.
For Zimbabwe, Mabhero was the most successful bowler with 2/36, while Mavunga and Biza claimed one wicket each.
