Quetta Gladiators Reveal Captain, Coaching Staff for PSL 11 Campaign
KARACHI: According to sources former PSL champions Quetta Gladiators have officially revealed their captain and support staff for the upcoming 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, set to take place from March 26 to May 3.
Left-handed batter Saud Shakeel will lead the side, while ex-Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan continues as head coach. Former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has been assigned the role of team director.
The backroom staff also features Iqbal Imam as assistant coach and Wahab Riaz as bowling coach, whereas Azam Khan will handle duties as team manager.
In terms of squad changes, the Gladiators have brought in West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph as a direct replacement for Australia’s Spencer Johnson, who is unavailable due to personal commitments. The franchise shared the update through its official social media platforms.
This season of the PSL will span 39 days and include eight teams, with two new sides — Pindiz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen — joining the six existing franchises.
A total of 44 matches are scheduled, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars kicking off the tournament against Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen on March 26 at their home ground.
Each team will play 10 matches in the group stage, after which the top four teams will qualify for the playoffs. The final is set to be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 3, with May 4 kept as a reserve day.
The tournament will feature six double-headers, three of them in Lahore. Matches will be held across six cities — Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Peshawar — with Faisalabad and Peshawar hosting PSL games for the first time.
Gaddafi Stadium will stage the highest number of matches (15), followed by Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (11). Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium will host seven matches, National Bank Stadium in Karachi six, and Multan Cricket Stadium four.
Peshawar’s Imran Khan Cricket Stadium will host one match, where Peshawar Zalmi will face Pindiz on March 28.
