Warner Anchors, Khushdil Explodes as Karachi Stun Lahore in 200-Run Chase

Karachi Kings pulled off a thrilling chase to defeat Lahore Qalandars by five wickets in a high-scoring clash at Gaddafi Stadium, keeping their playoff hopes alive in PSL 11.

Chasing a challenging 200-run target, the Kings reached the finish line with eight balls remaining, thanks to a composed innings from captain David Warner and a game-changing cameo by Khushdil Shah.

The run chase didn’t begin smoothly for Karachi, as Jason Roy fell early for just nine runs. Warner steadied things alongside Reeza Hendricks and Salman Ali Agha, though both partnerships were short-lived.

Momentum shifted when Moeen Ali joined Warner, adding a quickfire 58-run stand. Moeen’s aggressive 39 off just 17 balls gave Karachi a much-needed push before he was dismissed.

Further wickets, including Azam Khan, briefly put Lahore back in control. However, Khushdil’s explosive knock turned the contest around dramatically. His assault included a crucial over against Shaheen Shah Afridi that yielded 23 runs, shifting pressure firmly onto the Qalandars.

With 11 needed off the final two overs, Khushdil finished things in style, smashing consecutive sixes off Haris Rauf to seal victory. He remained unbeaten on a blistering 44 from just 14 balls, while Warner anchored the chase with a steady 63 not out.

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars posted an imposing 199/6 after being put in to bat. Their innings was built around a strong partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique, who added 110 runs for the second wicket.

Fakhar struck a fluent 61, while Shafique top-scored with 62, putting Karachi under pressure. Contributions from Sikandar Raza and Daniel Sams helped Lahore push close to the 200 mark in the final overs.

Among Karachi’s bowlers, Moeen stood out with two wickets, while Rizwanullah and Hasan Ali chipped in with one each.

Despite Lahore’s strong total, Karachi’s calculated chase and Khushdil’s late fireworks proved decisive in a match that kept fans on the edge throughout.
