6th T20 Semifinal For Team Pakistan

Pakistan reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup for the sixth time as the team improved its own record.

With victory over Bangladesh in Adelaide, Pakistan improved their own record by making it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup for the sixth time.

The Green Shirts have previously qualified for the Final Four stage in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2021. In 2014 and 2016, the team was knocked out of the tournament in the first stage, followed by Sri Lanka, West Indies and India 4, 4. While Australia has played in the semi-final 3 times, if Pakistan wins the semi-final in the recent World Cup, it will also win the honor of being the first team to play the final for the third time.

It may be recalled that the Green Shirts won the title for the first and last time under the leadership of Younis Khan in 2009, when Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the final played at the historic ground of Lord’s.

Babar Azam has managed to register his name as the first Pakistani captain to reach the semi-finals twice in the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Shadab Khan equaled Shahid Afridi’s record for the most wickets for the country by dismissing Bangladeshi batsman Shakib Al Hasan to take the all-rounder’s tally to 97, a milestone he crossed in 82 matches. Shahid Afridi took as many wickets in 98 matches.
