MULTAN SULTANS PULL OFF MASSIVE 226 CHASE THANKS TO FARHAN MASTERCLASS

Multan Sultans produced a stunning chase to defeat Hyderabad Kingsmen by six wickets in the eighth match of PSL 11 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Wednesday, powered by a sensational knock from Sahibzada Farhan.

Chasing a massive 226, the Sultans showed complete control and composure, reaching the target with four wickets down and still eight balls remaining. Farhan led the charge brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 106 from 57 balls, striking eight sixes and seven fours in a match-winning innings.

He was well supported at the top by Steve Smith, who scored 46, while Shan Masood added a steady 29. Towards the end, Farhan stitched an unbroken 37-run stand with Arafat Minhas, who provided the finishing touch with a quickfire 26 off just 11 deliveries.

For the Kingsmen, Saim Ayub impressed with the ball, picking up two wickets for 43 runs, while Maheesh Theekshana and Hassan Khan managed one wicket each.

Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen put up a strong total of 225 for five after being asked to bat first by their captain Marnus Labuschagne. The innings began aggressively, with Saim Ayub and Maaz adding 59 runs in just five overs before Ayub was dismissed for 27 by Peter Siddle.

Maaz continued the momentum and built small but useful partnerships with Labuschagne and Usman Khan before falling for a brilliant 62 off 26 balls, decorated with five sixes and five fours.

Usman Khan departed soon after, leaving the Kingsmen at 127 for four. From there, Sharjeel Khan took control and played a crucial unbeaten knock of 51 from 26 balls, hitting four sixes and three fours. He received late support from Syed Saad Ali and Muhammad Irfan Khan, who added valuable runs in the final overs.

Among the Sultans’ bowlers, Mohammad Wasim Jr stood out with figures of 2 for 37, while Mohammad Nawaz, Peter Siddle, and Ashton Turner chipped in with one wicket each.

Overall, it was a commanding chase by Multan Sultans, highlighted by Farhan’s outstanding century and strong contributions throughout the batting lineup.
