Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja has said that if Pakistan does not participate in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will see it?
Speaking to an event in Islamabad on Thursday night, Chairman PCB Ramiz Raja said that ‘Our position is blunt that if they (Indian team) come then we will go to the World Cup, if they don’t come then let them do it and then the World Cup will be without us.’
Ramiz Raja said that ‘we will adopt an aggressive approach, our team is showing performance, we have defeated the biggest business-making cricket team in the world, we have played the final of the T20 World Cup.’
He said that there has been no discussion with the Indian Cricket Board or the Asian Cricket Council regarding India not playing the Asia Cup in Pakistan, but whenever there is an opportunity, we will definitely do so and our position is blunt.
Chairman PCB Ramiz Raja said that ‘I have always said that we have to improve the economy of Pakistan cricket and that will only happen when our team performs well, we have done it in the 2021 T20 World Cup. We beat India in the Asia Cup, Pakistan cricket team has beaten the board of billion dollar economy twice in one year.
During the dinner ceremony given by the Pakistan Cricket Board in honor of the players, Chairman PCB Rameez Raja said that since I became the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, i have started doing everything that he didn’t done before.
It should be noted that the president of the Asian Cricket Council Jay Shah had made a statement in October this year that the Indian cricket team will not go to Pakistan for the next year’s Asia Cup and the tournament may be shifted to a neutral venue.
Responding to this statement, the spokesperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board said that this statement may have an impact on Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup scheduled in India and the ICC events scheduled in India from 2024 to 2031.
The Pakistan Cricket Board also said that the statement was made without consulting the ACC Board or the PCB.
It should be noted that Asia Cup is scheduled in Pakistan next year. The Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan will be played in the middle of 2023 with the format of ODI. After the Asia Cup, the ODI Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be held in India in 2023.
