Namibia Upsets Srilanka

In the opening match of the first leg of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, there was a big upset, with Namibia defeating Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

Chasing the target of 164 runs, the Sri Lankan team managed to score only 108 runs while all the players of the team were dismissed. Batting first, Namibia scored 163 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nabibia’s innings:

In the opening match of the qualifying round, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field against Namibia. John Frylinck was dismissed for 44 runs while JJ Samith played an unbeaten innings of 31 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Pramod Madhushanka took 2 wickets while Mahesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Chamika Karunaratne and Hasaranga took one wicket each.

Sri Lanka’s innings:

In Australia, the Namibian bowlers destroyed the Sri Lankan batting line, Sri Lankan captain Dasan Shanka scored 29 runs and Bhanuka Rajapaksha scored 20 runs.

Namibia’s David Wese, Bernard, Ben Shikongo and John Frylinck took 2 wickets each while JJ Smith dismissed 1 player.

In the second match to be played at the Cardinia Park Stadium in Geelong, Australia, the teams of the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands will face each other.

Qualifying matches will be played in the first phase of the T20 World Cup, a total of 8 teams have been divided into two groups for the tournament. At the end of the first stage, four teams will qualify for the main round Super 12, the Super 12 round will start from October 22.
