Pakistan Squad For Women’s World Cup 2025
Lahore: The Women’s National Selection Committee has finalized a 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, scheduled from 30 September to 2 November. The same group will also contest a three-match ODI series against South Africa, to be held at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, from 16 to 22 September.
Uncapped right-handed batter Eyman Fatima, who recently debuted in T20Is against Ireland, has been included in the ODI setup. Fatima Sana, who featured in the previous World Cup, will captain Pakistan for the first time at a major ICC event. The 23-year-old had earlier led the national side during the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Lahore, where Pakistan secured a perfect win record to book their spot in this year’s global tournament to be staged in India and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will play all group matches at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo. If the team qualifies, both the semi-final (29 October) and the final (2 November) will also be contested at the same venue.
Six cricketers are set for their maiden ODI World Cup appearance: Natalia Parvaiz (8 ODIs, 24 T20Is), Rameen Shamim (8 ODIs, 11 T20Is), Sadaf Shamas (15 ODIs, 12 T20Is), Sadia Iqbal (27 ODIs, 50 T20Is), Shawaal Zulfiqar (3 ODIs, 9 T20Is), and Syeda Aroob Shah (2 ODIs, 15 T20Is).
Notably, Aroob (21), Shawaal (20), and Eyman (20) were all part of Pakistan’s squad in the inaugural ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup in South Africa (January 2023).
Two changes have been made from the team that played in the World Cup Qualifier: Eyman and Sadaf replace Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi. The latter two have been placed in the five-member reserve list, along with Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.
The 15-member squad, along with the five reserves, will undergo a 14-day preparatory camp starting 29 August, under the supervision of head coach Muhammad Wasim. The camp will feature practice sessions and 50-over practice matches, with further details to follow.
South Africa’s women’s side will touch down in Lahore on 12 September.
