Australia Retains The Ashes After Series 2-2

In the final Test of the Ashes series, England defeated Australia by 49 runs to level the series 2-2.

On the final day of the Test, Australia scored 135 runs for no loss but Chris Woakes sent Warner and Usman Khawaja to the pavilion in the first session.

Then Mark Wood took the wicket of Marnes Labushin. Steve Smith and Travis Head took the score to 238 at the lunch break.

The second session was completely wasted due to rain and a wet outfield. Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes bowled devastatingly in the third session, Moeen took the wickets of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Cummins while Woakes walked Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc.

The ninth and tenth wickets were taken by Stuart Broad, who played the last Test, thus the entire Australian team was bowled out for 334 runs and England won the match by 49 runs and leveled the five-match series 2-2.

Even if the series is tied, the Ashes trophy will remain with Australia.

The 2021 Ashes trophy was won by Australia and as per the rules, in case of a series draw, the team that won the previous edition retains the trophy.

It should be noted that the England team was bowled out for 283 runs in the first innings.

The English team scored 395 runs in the second innings and gave Australia a target of 384 runs to win.
