Pakistan Takes The Trophy In New Zealand

Pakistan won the Trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final of the tri-nation T20 series.

In the final of the tri-nation T20 series, New Zealand gave Pakistan a target of 164 runs to win, which Pakistan achieved in the last overs to claim the series.

Mohammad Nawaz was named the man of the match for his excellent all-rounder performance while New Zealand spinner Michael Bracewell was named the player of the series.

New Zealand’s innings

At the start of the match, Kiwi opener Finn Allen was bowled by Naseem Shah for just 12 runs. In the fifth over, David Conway was bowled by fast bowler Haris Rauf with 14 runs.

After Mohammad Nawaz managed to take New Zealand’s third wicket of Glenn Phillips on 97, Shadab Khan restricted New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson to 59 and sent him back.

Fast bowler Naseem Shah was at his best for Pakistan in the 19th over to take Chapman’s wicket, Mark Champman returned with 25 runs.

After which, on the very next ball, Mohammad Rizwan runout Jimmy Neesham for 17 runs and in the last over of the match, fast bowler Haris Rauf took the wicket of Ish Sodhi in the last over of the innings.

Pakistan’s innings

In the counter innings, captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan provided a good start, but in the fifth over of the match, Babar Azam was caught out after scoring 15 runs off Kiwi bowler Bracewell.

Pakistan’s second wicket fell in 11 overs when Shaan Masood was caught. After which Mohammad Rizwan scored 34 runs off 29 balls and got lbw off Sodhi’s ball.

Later, middle order batsman Haider Ali and Mohammad Nawaz broke the pressure in the match and led the national team towards victory, Haider Ali scored 31 runs in 15 balls and gave the wicket to Sodhi, aggressive batsman Asif Ali scord just one run on 2 balls.

However, Muhammad Nawaz remained unbeaten by scoring 38 runs off 22 balls, while Iftikhar Ahmed played an unbeaten innings of 25 off 14 balls and played an important role in the team’s victory.
