PCB Waiting For Friends To Save The Hosting Of Asia Cup

According to senior sports journalist Salim Khaliq in Express News and Cricket Pakistan, Pakistan is waiting for the support of its friends to save the hosting of the Asia Cup, Afghanistan and Bangladesh seem ready to cooperate, however, Sri Lanka was persuaded by India to play 2 extra matches.

According to the details, the Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan is to be held in September, however, India has put the event in jeopardy by refusing to visit. The schedule has not been announced yet, while it is not clear that the event will be held in Pakistan.

The head of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, Najam Sethi, while proposing a hybrid model, said that the Asia Cup should be held on Pakistani soil, but India’s matches should be held at a neutral venue. Najam Sethi is currently in Dubai where he met the ICC officials yesterday, he will also meet Asian Council vice president Pankaj Khimji and Emirates cricket officials on Tuesday.

On this occasion, there will be a discussion on holding Indian matches in UAE under the hybrid model, PCB fears that if the Asia Cup is not held now, then the same problem will occur when hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025.

Under the hybrid model, Blue Shirts’ Champions Trophy matches will be held in Bangladesh. Sources said that these days there is a war of nerves between Pakistan and Indian authorities in which India is using its media. The dream of hosting has been dreaming for many days.

Pakistan reminded Afghanistan that recently extra matches were played in Sharjah, it stands with the PCB, Bangladesh has concerns about playing in the heat of Dubai but efforts to convince continue but they are willing to cooperate.

Pakistani board officials have said many times in public that we have got a lot of money due to PSL, even if the Asia Cup does not take place, there will be no problem, but in fact, the authorities are holding the event in view of the preparation of the World Cup to avoid financial loss but holding the entire event on neutral vino would be hard to save face.

Yesterday, there were many news in the Indian media regarding the Asia Cup, in one of them it was also said that the members have rejected the hybrid model of the PCB and moved the event from Pakistan.

The PCB official termed the news as nonsense and an attempt by the BCCI to increase pressure. He said that ACC has not officially said anything about the refusal to recognize our hybrid model, we are still in discussions, the news released by unnamed sources is not authentic.
