Quetta Gladiators outclass Multan Sultans in emphatic 10-wicket win at PSL 10

LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators notched their fourth victory of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 with a dominant 10-wicket demolition of Multan Sultans in the 18th match of the tournament, held at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing a modest 90-run target, Quetta made an explosive start, with opener Finn Allen going after David Willey in the second over, smashing two sixes and a four to plunder 17 runs and immediately set the tone.

Captain Saud Shakeel anchored the other end, adding crucial boundaries to keep the momentum going. The opening duo reached 38 without loss inside four overs and soon brought up a comfortable 50-run stand, removing any tension from the chase.

By the end of the powerplay, the Gladiators were cruising at 74 for no loss, completely dominating proceedings.

They wrapped up the chase with 79 balls to spare, as Allen sealed the win in style by clearing the ropes off Usama Mir.

Allen finished unbeaten on 45 off just 21 balls, while Saud Shakeel remained not out on 42 from 20 deliveries.

This comprehensive win marked Quetta Gladiators’ first-ever 10-wicket victory in PSL history.

Earlier, Multan Sultans suffered a disastrous outing with the bat after choosing to bat first.

Yasir Khan was removed by Khurram Shahzad for five, followed swiftly by Usman Khan, who fell for a second-ball duck in the same over, leaving the side reeling at 7-2.

Khurram continued his devastating spell, dismissing Kamran Ghulam (3) and Curtis Campher (4) in his next over, reducing Multan to 20-4 within four overs.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed attempted to rebuild, but the pressure remained. Faheem Ashraf struck to send back Iftikhar for six, before also claiming Michael Bracewell for a duck, plunging Multan deeper at 43-6.

David Willey was bowled by Mohammad Wasim Jr for seven, while Usama Mir was run out for 11 after a sharp piece of fielding by Rilee Rossouw. Kusal Mendis and Hassan Nawaz then combined to run out Mohammad Hasnain for two.

Rizwan fought valiantly with a 44-run knock but was the last man out, bowled by Ubaid Shah, as Multan collapsed for 89 in 17 overs.

Khurram Shahzad starred with the ball, taking a brilliant four-wicket haul. Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr chipped in with two wickets each, and Ubaid Shah claimed the final dismissal.
