Scotland Upsets Westindies in T20 WorldCup

There has been a second upset in the first qualifying round of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as Scotland beat the West Indies by 42 runs.

Batting first, Scotland scored 160 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted overs and set a target of 161 for the opposing team.

The West Indian team could only score 118 runs in pursuit of the target while all the players were dismissed.

West Indies won the toss and invited Scotland to bat, Scotland’s openers gave the team a good start.

Opener George Mumsey scored an unbeaten 66 for Scotland while Calum McLeod scored 23 and Michael Jones scored 20.

Yesterday, in the opening match of the event, Namibia caused a big upset by defeating Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

Today, the second match between Zimbabwe and Ireland will be played in Hobart, Australia.

Qualifying matches are being played in the first phase of the T20 World Cup, a total of 8 teams have been divided into two groups for the tournament.

At the end of the first stage, four teams will qualify for the main round Super 12, the Super 12 round will start from October 22.

In the first round, Namibia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates (UAE) are in Group A while Ireland, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Scotland are in Group B.
